You do not need to travel far from Denmark to see natural scenery that is in a class by itself; the Scandinavian mountains are just around the corner. Especially in northern Norway, you can ski for many days across open wilds without seeing towns or other people. On a clear and frosty day, with blue skies and sunshine, the beautiful, white landscape is only broken by frozen lakes and rugged mountain peaks, while the only thing you hear are the skis creaking across the hard snow. Unlike Siberia, the winter temperatures in Scandinavia are moderate. The temperature rarely reaches below minus 30 degrees Celsius, which makes it possible to camp comfortably in tents. In between, you also find small cabins in the mountains, equipped with wood-burning stoves, which provide shelter for the night.
